Read:

In the Government Order first read above, the Government notified the 5^th of October 2014 as a Public Holiday for Bakrid under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. The Chief Kazi to Government of Tamil Nadu in his letter 2ⁿ^d read above has stated that since the Moon for the Month of ZULHAJ was not sighted on Thursday 25^th September 2014, the Bakrid (ID-UL-AZHA) will be celebrated on Monday 6^t^h October 2014 instead of 5^t^h October 2014. Hence, he has requested the Government to change the holiday scheduled on 5th October to 6^t^h October 2014.

2. The Government, after careful consideration of the matter has decided to change the Public Holiday from 05.10.2014 (Sunday) to 06.10.2014 (Monday) on the occasion of 'Bakrid' under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Accordingly, the following Notification will be published in an extra-ordinary Gazette dated 01.10.2014.

NOTIFICATION

Under the Explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881) read with Notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs No.20-25-26, Public -1, dated 8^th June 1957 the Government of Tamil Nadu hereby declares that Monday 6^t^h October 2014 shall be a Public Holiday on account of Bakrid instead of the 5^th October 2014.

4. The above Public Holiday notified shall also apply to all State Government Undertakings/Corporation/Boards etc.,
