Railway Minister Flags Off Five More New Trains

Railway Minister Flags Off Five More New Trains
The Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu flagged off five new trains by remote control at a function here today. The Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha was specially present on the occasion.

These trains are;
i) 11081/11082 Lokmanya Tilak (T) – Gorakhopur Express (Weekly),

ii) 22809/22810 Paradeep-Visakhapatnam Express (Weekly),

iii) 15031/15032 Ramnagar-Chandigarh Express (Weekly),

iv) 22655/22656 Thiruvanthapuram-Nizamuddin Express (Weekly) (via ALLP), and

v) 11207/11208 Nagpur-Rewa Express (Weekly). All these trains are part of the Budget announcements.

Earlier, the Railway Minister had flagged off eight new trains on 9th February 2015 and three new trains yesterday i.e. on 10th February 2015. So far the Railway Minister Shri Prabhu had flagged off 16 trains in three days. The more train services will be implemented in near future

Board Members and senior railway officials were also present on the occasion.

Railways’ Revenue Earnings up by 12.67 Per Cent During April 2014 – January 2015

The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April 2014 to 31st January 2015 were Rs. 128928.28 crore compared to Rs. 114428.52 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.67 per cent.

The total approximate earnings from goods during 1st April 2014 – 31st January 2015 were Rs. 87291.87 crore compared to Rs. 77694.07 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.35 per cent.

The total approximate revenue earnings from passengers during 1st April 2014 – 31st January 2015 were Rs. 35309.81 crore compared to Rs. 30723.44 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 14.93 percent.

The approximate revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs.3353.26 crore during April 2014 – January 2015 compared to Rs. 3179.49 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.47 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during 1st April 2014 – 31st January 2015 were 6923.95 million compared to 6962.92 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 0.56 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April 2014 – January 2015 were 3791.88 million and 3132..07 million compared to 3715.11 million and 3247.81 million registering an increase of 2.07 per cent and a decrease of 3.56 per cent respectively during the same period last year.
