O R D E R:
1.        In letter 2nd read above, the Director of Medical Education, Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad has reported that Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences, Visakhapatnam
is to be operationalised soon and there is an absolute need to appoint a Director /
OSD to the institute to oversee the procurement of equipment, completion of the
necessary infrastructure and basic backup system, engagement of essential staff
and coordinating with Principal, Andhra Medical College / Superintendent, King
George Hospital / Director of Medical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh/
Government of Andhra Pradesh and District administration etc.

2. The Director of Medical Education has requested the Government to
constitute a committee of 3 to 5 experts and provided a list of eminent people from
the field of medical education and medical practice.

3. The Government after careful examination of the matter and in cancellation
of the orders issued in the GO 3rd read above hereby appoint a search committee
with the following members, to suggest a panel of 2 names to Government to
enable the Government to appoint one amongst the panel.

1. Director of Medical Education, Govt of Andhra Pradesh - Member Convener

2. Vice Chancellor, Dr.NTRUHS, Vijayawada - Member

3. Dr.B.Somaraju, Cardiologist,
Member of CM’s Medical Advisory Committee - Member

4. The following Terms of References (ToR) are prescribed for the
Committee.

i. In first meeting, the committee can finalise, the essential and desirable
qualifications for the post of Director, VIMS and send the same to
Government for approval.

ii. After approval of the Qualifications, announcement can be made by DME
inviting suitable candidates and then a panel can be prepared for the
approval of the Government .

iii. The Committee can also suggest the emoluments that can be considered
by the Government for the Posts of Director and the CEO of VIMS .

iv. The Committee can suggest suitable/viable model to ensure that VIMS,
Visakhapatnam runs on a self sufficiency principle gaining ability to make
investments for full upkeep of all facilities as well as gaining strength to
make all investments for growth and expansion, in about four to five years
time.
