Stock of foodgrains adequate to meet the PDS requirement 
The stock of foodgrains in the Central Pool as on 1.8.2015 was 520.75 lakh tons as against the foodgrain stocking norms of 411.20 lakh tons for the Central Pool for July-September quarter which is adequate to meet the requirement under TPDS and OWS as per the existing level of allocation.  This information was given by the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.

    He said that based on reports received from the States/UTs, the number of ration card beneficiaries (as on 31.12.2014) under TPDS were 19.92 crore. For the year 2014-15, Government released a total subsidy of Rs.113171.16 crore.

Central Warehousing Corporation consistently making profits 
         The Government regularly reviews the performance of Central Warehousing 
Corporation (CWC) through review meetings held in the Ministry. The 
performance of the Corporation is also reviewed by the Government on the various 
Static/Financial Parameters and the Dynamic Parameters for which targets are fixed 
at the beginning of every year through Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and
 the Corporation is getting excellent rating regularly on evaluation of its 
performance. This information was given by the Minister of Consumer Affairs, 
Food and Public Distribution, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan in a written reply 
in Lok Sabha today.


The CWC is consistently making profits and paying dividend to its shareholders.

The Government procures all wheat and rice offered by the farmers at MSP. This information was given by the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
