All India Institute of Ayurveda to be opened shortly
All India Institute of Ayurveda is going to be set
up shortly. The Institute is at advanced stage of completion. The construction
of the building is almost complete. OPD is working with 9 Ayurveda specialties.
Basic medical equipments, machinery and all allied services have been procured.
Government had approved an amount of Rs. 134 crore for the project but later on
it was revised to Rs. 157 crore in March, 2013.
The progress of the project is being reviewed from time to time with the concerned agencies in the Project Management Committee Meeting. The slow progress is due to delay in obtaining statutory clearances from local bodies.

A Central Research Institute in Yoga and Naturopathy to be set up in
Khordha District of Odisha
Central Council for Research in Yoga and
Naturopathy (CCRYN), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH has
obtained 20 acres of land from Odisha Government in Binjhagiri Village in
Khordha District to establish a Central Research Institute in Yoga and
Naturopathy.
Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi is an autonomous organization under Central Government which is engaged in activities primarily related to education in Yoga. Additionally, in 16 states , 108 colleges and educational institutes of 54 universities conducted courses on Yoga at various levels in the country (during 2012-13), as informed by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Steps taken by the Government to promote AYUSH systems in the country
Amount of Rs. 16527.892 lakhs provided for current financial year 2015-2016
under NAM
The State / UT Governments are provided
Grant-in-aid for procurement of essential AYUSH medicines for AYUSH Hospitals
& Dispensaries, AYUSH Co-located facilitiesat Primary Health Centers (PHC),
Community Health Centers (CHC) and District Hospital(DH) under National AYUSH
Mission (NAM).
Further, provision has also been made for following activities under NAM:
i)Behavior Change Communication (BCC) has been included as a strategy of Mass Media Communication incorporating AYUSH strengths in early prevention of diseases through promotion of healthy diet and life style to be adopted by the community which will be advocated by the states.
ii)Public Health Outreach activity has been included to focus on increasing awareness about AYUSH’s strength in solving community health problems resulting from nutritional deficiencies, epidemics and vector-borne diseases, Maternal and Child Health Care.
ii)AYUSH Gram is a concept wherein one village per block is selected for adoption of method and practice of AYUSH way of life and interventions of health care. In AYUSH village AYUSH based lifestyles are promoted through behavioral change communication, training of village health workers towards identification and use of local medicinal herbs and provision of AYUSH health services.
Further, the Ministry under its Central Sector Schemes of Information Education and Communication (IEC) and International Co-operation (IC) extends financial assistance to State Governments and other reputed Government/Non Governmental Organizations/ Universities for conducting National/International Seminars/Workshops/Symposiums to promote Yoga. In addition, the Ministry carries out mass media campaigns through electronic & print media and AROGYA Fairs for creating awareness amongst the people.
All over the country , the number of Institutes/Attached Hospitals engaged in AYUSH education include 297 of Ayurveda, 9 in Siddha, 46 in Unani and 197 in Homeopathy. Additionally, there are 108 colleges of 54 universities engaged in Yoga education.
Under National AYUSH Mission (NAM), an amount of Rs. 7528.707lakhs was released as first Installment of Grant released during 2014-15 to States/UTs while Rs.10849.565lakhs was released in 2015-16 as Final Payment of Grant of 2014-15 . An amount of Rs.16527.892lakhs has been provided for current financial year 2015-2016 under NAM.

Steps taken by the Government to provide AYUSH facilities in Hospitals and
Dispensaries
Under National AYUSH Mission (NAM) financial
support is provided to States/UTs for better access to AYUSH services through
co-location of AYUSH facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community
Health Centres (CHCs) and Districts hospitals(DHs), upgradation of the
exclusive AYUSH hospitals and Dispensaries as per the requirement projected by
them in their State Annual action Plans (SAAPs).

131 units assisted till date for opening AYUSH Wellness Centers including
Yoga during 2015-16 under National AYUSH Mission (NAM)
There are three autonomous organizations under
Ministry of AYUSH namely, CentralCouncil for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy
(CCRYN), Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNY) & National
Institute of Naturopathy(NIN), Pune. These are engaged in various activities
relating to Yoga & Naturopathy, including treatment of patients through
these systems. The treatment includes Hydrotherapy, Mud therapy, Massage &
Manipulative Therapy,Counseling diet & fasting, Acupuncture, acupressure,
solar/chromo therapy, magneto therapy, physiotherapy& various Yoga
techniques/ asanas.
MDNIY has established four yoga therapy centres& 19 Preventive Health Care Units in Government hospitals &Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centresrespectively.
