O R D E R:
Government
have considered it necessary to constitute a State Level and a District Level
Committee to promote the use of Millets and do an extensive extension work to
make people realize the importance of food, nutrition value of Millets and
different items that are made out from Millets.
2. Government
hereby constitute the State Level Committee and District Level Committee with
immediate effect to promote use of millets and to create awareness on the
nutritional value of millets;

District Collector may also co-opt nutritional experts or
scientists who have experience in the field of Millets / millets research.
3. The
Committee shall meet as frequently as required to discuss and to create
awareness regarding nutritional values of millets, health benefits and to
suggest steps to be taken to promote the usage of millets as alternate staple
food, recommend the action to be taken for marketing millets and make them
available in the open market for general public at affordable prices.
4. The
Committee may also take advice from experts from Agriculture, Food &
Nutrition, Marketing fields, for promoting cultivation and consumption of
millets and the different varieties of food items that can be made out from
millets and for their marketing, and reduce the dependency on the staple food
like rice.
5. The
District Collectors shall appraise the Government on the action taken by the
Committees on quarterly basis.
