Prime Minister to lay Foundation Stone for Delhi-Meerut Expressway 
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the construction of 74 Km long Delhi-Dasna-Meerut 14 lane Expressway and upgradation of 22 Km long Dasna-Hapur section of NH-24, at Institutional Area, Plot No A-33, Sector -62, Noida, at 12 Noon on Thursday ,the 31st of December  2015. Uttar Pradesh Governor Shri Ram Naik, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Shri Harsh Vardhan, MoS, Culture and Tourism(I/C) and Civil Aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma, MoS Statistics & Programme Implementation (I/C), External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs General V.K.Singh and MoS  Road Transport and Shipping Shri P. Radhakrishnan will also be present on the occasion.

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari informed that the above project will cost Rs 7566 Crore  and will include the following three components :
·         DME Phase-I - Construction of 28 km long 14 lane Delhi-Dasna section of Delhi-Meerut Expressway, costing Rs 2869 Crore
·         DME Phase II – Construction of 46 km long, 6 lane Dasna-Meerut section of Delhi-Meerut Expressway, costing Rs 3575 Crore
·         6- laning of 22 km long Dasna-Hapur section of NH -24 costing Rs 1122 Crore.
There is an urgent need for an expressway between Delhi and Meerut because NH-  58, the only existing link between the two places is heavily congested with traffic. The alignment of Delhi-Meerut Express will start from Nizammudin Bridge [T point km 00.000] from Delhi and will continue on existing NH – 24 upto Dasna [km 30.38].  From Dasna there will be completely a new alignment upto Meerut.  The alignment will terminate on inner ring road/ Meerut bypass near Railway crossing [km 66] at Meerut. 

            The project constitutes of 4-packages as detailed under:
