Enhancement of Honorarium in respect of SPOs of
Jammu & Kashmir to Rs. 6000 per month
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has
enhanced the honorarium of Special Police Officers (SPOs) of Jammu and Kashmir
upto Rs. 6000 per month from Rs. 3000 per month. The honorarium is given by the
State Government and reimbursed by the Central Government under the Security
Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme. The last enhancement was done in 2006. This
will boost the morale of the SPOs who play a vital role in combating militancy
in the State.
The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has also constituted a committee for assessing the performance, utility and efficacy of the SPOs. The committee is chaired by JS (J&K), MHA and other members of the committee include representatives of DGP, J&K, Principal Secretary (Home), J&K and IFD (MHA).
The enhancement of honorarium will come into effect from today (i.e. 01.01.2016).

Shri Kiren Rijuju presents the Certificate of
Naturalization to Shri Adnan Sami Khan under Indian Citizenship Act, 1955
The Minister of State for Home Affairs,
Shri Kiren Rijiju presented the Certificate of Naturalization to noted singer
and musician Shri Adnan Sami Khan here today. The certificate has been granted
under the Citizenship Act, 1955. He had applied for the certificate of
naturalisation and has satisfied the Government that the conditions laid down
in the Citizenship Act, 1955 for grant of naturalisation are fulfilled in his
case.
His request for citizenship was approved by the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh yesterday.
In pursuance of the powers conferred by the Citizenship Act, upon taking the oath of allegiance within the time and in the manner required by the rules made in that behalf he shall subject to the provisions of the said Act, be entitled to all political and other rights, powers and privileges and be subject to all obligations duties and liabilities to which an Indian citizen is entitled or subject, and have to all intents and purposes the status of an Indian citizen.
Shri B.K. Prasad, Additional Secretary (Foreigners), MHA and Ms. Roya Faryabi, wife of Shri Adnan Sami Khan were also present on the occasion.
