Biennial Election to the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 2 Graduates’ & Teachers’ Constituency

The term of office of sitting members of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 2 Graduates’ and 2 Teachers’ Constituency are due to expire on 07.07.2018, as per the details given below:

2.         Now, the Commission has decided to hold Biennial Election to the Maharashtra Legislative Councils from said Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies, in accordance with the following schedule:

6	Date of poll	:	25thJune, 2018 ( Monday)
7	Hours of poll	:	8 A.M to 4.P.M
8	Counting of Votes	:	28th June, 2018 (Thursday)
9	Date before which election shall be completed	:	2ndJuly , 2018 ( Monday)

Polling to be held in 173-Jayanagar Assembly Constituency on 11th June 2018

            Whereas, for the purpose of holding of General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Karnataka, 2018, the Governor of Karnataka had, by Notification issued under Section 15 of the Representation of People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951) and published in an extraordinary issue of the State Gazette dated 17th April, 2018, called upon the 173-Jayanagar  Assembly Constituency in the State of Karnataka  to elect members to the said Legislative Assembly; and

            Whereas, one contesting candidate, namely, Shri B.N. Vijaya Kumar from 173-Jayanagar  Assembly Constituency set up by Bharatiya Janata Party, a recognized National Party, died on 4th May, 2018, and;

            Whereas, in consequence thereof and in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of Section 52 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Returning Officer for the said constituency adjourned the poll to a date to be notified later, and reported the fact to the Election Commission;

            Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (2) of Section 52 read with Section 30 and Section 56 of the said Act, the Election Commission of India, here by-

(A) Appoints with respect to the said election from 173-Jayanagar Assembly Constituency:-
