COMED-K NOTIFICATION FOR UGET 2013

UGET 2013 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, TEST
PATTERN AND
CALENDAR OF EVENTS
COMEDK is the
"Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of
Karnataka” to determine merit of students seeking
admissions to the Member
Institutions of The Karnataka
Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, and
Karnataka Unaided Private
Engineering Colleges Association in their endeavor to
offer an effective, fair,
transparent and non-exploitative testing procedure. There
are 12 Medical, 25 Dental and
nearly 150 Engineering colleges who make available almost 20,000 seats in these professional
institutions.
COMEDK has been assigned the
task of organizing a Common Entrance Test for
the academic year 2013-2014,
for candidates aspiring to pursue Under Graduate
courses in Member
Institutions of the Consortium Medical, Dental and
Engineering Colleges in the
State of Karnataka. The entrance test, publication of
test score and rank list will
be followed by centralized counseling (Single window
system).
The Entrance Test being an
exercise to shortlist an inter-se merit for a grant of
admission and with a view to
facilitate the prospective candidates to know well in
advance the eligibility
criteria, including the requisite qualification, marks to be
secured in the qualifying
examination and the Entrance Test, number of attempts,
the pattern of Test etc,
these details are as enumerated in Annexure
I and
Annexure II is the calendar
of events of the Test. The applicants are advised to
go through the Annexure
carefully.
However, there shall be a
detailed Brochure regarding procedure for making
Application, Application fee,
List of member institutions, etc which will be
hosted on our website
http://www.comedk.org shortly and all applicants are
advised to visit the site
frequently for updated relevant information.
ANNEXURE
– I
ELIGIBILTY
CRITERIA
MBBS / BDS:
(i) As per the Regulations of
Medical/Dental Council of India, the qualifying
examination prescribed for
admission to MBBS/BDS is 2nd PUC or 10+2
higher secondary or
equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central
Government. The last two
years of study shall comprise of Physics,
Chemistry and Biology (PCB)
with English as a compulsory subject.
(ii) The candidates must have
passed these subjects (PCB) individually and
must have obtained a minimum
of 50% of marks taken together in PCB
(40% in the case of SC, ST
and OBC of Karnataka state); they must also
secure not less than 50%
marks (40 % in the case of SC, ST and
OBC of
Karnataka state) in PCB in
the Common Entrance Test of COMEDK 2013.
(iii) English is one of the
subjects to be tested along with Physics, Chemistry
and Biology during COMEDK
UGET 2013 and the candidates should secure
not less than 50% marks in
English, (40 % in the case of SC, ST and
OBC of Karnataka state).
However, the marks so secured in English will
not be added for the
determination of rank list as the rank list will be drawn
exclusively based on the
minimum required marks secured by the
candidates in PCB; further, a
candidate is not entitled for a rank if
he/she fails to secure 50% or
40% of marks in English, as the case may
be. The paper on English
language will be of Matriculation standard and
test the candidate’s
comprehension of the language, the structure of words,
phrases, clauses, and
sentences.
(iv) The candidates shall
complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st
December (31/12/2013) of the
year of admission to the MBBS/BDS course.
Similarly, the candidates who
have passed the qualifying examination
prior to 2009 need not
apply.
Illustration
1:
If a general merit candidate
has secured 50% in English and not less than 50% in
Physics, Chemistry and
Biology taken together, his/her name would be announced
in the rank list based on the
marks secured by him in PCB
Illustration 2:
If a Candidate has secured
more than 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
taken together but has
secured less than 50% in English, he / she will not be
eligible to participate in
the seat selection process as his/her name will not figure
in the Rank list.
Illustration 3:
If a Candidate has secured
more than 70% in English but has secured less than
50% in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology taken together, he/she will not be eligible
to participate in the seat
selection process as he/she will not figure in the Rank
list.
B.E:
(i). As per the norms of the All India Council of
Technical Education, the
qualifying examination
prescribed for admission to B.E. is 2nd PUC or 10+2
higher secondary or
equivalent Examination recognized by State / Central
Government. The last two
years of study shall comprise of Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics
(PCM) with English as a compulsory subject.
(ii). The General Merit Candidates should have
passed with a minimum
aggregate of 45% marks (40%
in respect of SC, ST and OBC Candidates of
Karnataka state) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
(PCM) andPage 4 of 5
should have passed these
subjects individually. Physics and Mathematics
are compulsory subjects along
with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology
as one of the optional
subjects. However, if there are any changes in the
eligibility criteria by the
AICTE, the same will be adopted.
(iii) There are no minimum
marks fixed for the entrance test.
NOTE: Diploma Candidates are
not eligible to take COMEDK UGET-
2013 entrance test.
B. Arch:
(i) The qualifying examination prescribed for
admission to B. Arch is 2nd
PUC or 10+2 higher secondary
or equivalent Examination with
Mathematics as one of the
subjects or a 10+3 Diploma recognized by
Central / State Government
and having obtained at least 50% marks in
aggregate (45% marks in case
of SC, ST and OBC Candidates of
Karnataka). Further the
candidate should have appeared for National
Aptitude Test in Architecture
(NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture
with a minimum score of 80
out of 200 for both general merit and
category candidates.
(ii)COMEDK will not be
conducting any Common Entrance Test for
candidates seeking admission
to B. Arch (Architecture Course) as per its
existing rules.
Test Pattern:
Each of the correct questions
would be valued for one mark and there is no
negative marking.

COMEDK Notification for UGET-2013 –Brochure

Whereas
Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental College of Karnataka (COMEDK) has
been assigned the task of organizing a common entrance test for the academic
year 2013-14 for those candidates aspiring to pursue Under Graduate courses in Member Institutions of the
consortium; Whereas certain eligibility
criteria including the marks to be scored in the Entrance Test were put on the
website on 15/02/2013 itself and considering certain representations with regard to the
proposed eligibility criteria modifications
thereof have also been incorporated in the brochure. Whereas the Entrance Test,
publication of Test Score and Rank List will be followed by Centralized Counseling (Single
Window System) and the Entrance Test
being an exercise to short list an inter-se merit for grant of admission and with a view to inform the candidates the
detailed procedure to be followed for making an application, the scheme of
entrance test, the list of Member Institution, the courses available, the
number of likely seats available, various documents to be enclosed with the
application and application fees etc., it is considered expedient to notify the
same in the form of brochure;
Now
therefore the COMEDK brochure for conduct of Under Graduate Entrance Test-2013
is hereby notified.
