Institutions) Rules,1997 - Prescribing minimum education qualification for
study for all Paramedical Courses – Amendment – Notification – Issued.

O R D E R :
In the G.O. first read above orders were issued prescribing Rules for the A.P.
Para-Medical Training Institutions (Grant of Permission and Regulation of admissions
into private Institutions)Rules,1997. In the G.O’s 2nd to 5th read above,
certain amendments/ clarifications have been issued to the G.O.1st read above.
2. In the G.O. 6th read above, AP Para Medical Para Medical
Board, Rules 2006, were issued under Sub-Section-I of Section-44 of the AP Para
Medical Board Act, 2006 (AP Act No.38 of 2006) prescribing the minimum
educational qualifications to train the students by Para Medical Educational
and Training Institutions.
3. In G.O. 7th read above, Rules relating to admission into
Multi Purpose Health Workers (Male) training and grant of permission to private
Multi Purpose Health Workers (Male) training Institutions were issued.
4. In G.O. 8th read above, certain amendments were issued to the Rules prescribed
for Multi Purpose Health Workers (Male) training referred to in the GO 7th read
above, with regard to name of the course, qualification for admission, fee
structure, minimum age, staffing pattern, duration of the Course, etc.,
5. In the G.O. 9th read above, orders were issued for conversion of all certificate
courses with one year duration as Diploma Courses with two year duration with
effect from Academic Year 2012-2013.
6. In the letter 10th read above, the Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Para
Medical Board has reported that during the meeting of A.P. Paramedical Board
held on 7.2.2011, it was resolved to request the Government to issue necessary
orders prescribing Intermediate (Bi.Pc) as entry qualification for admission to
all Paramedical Courses and if sufficient number of candidates with
Intermediate of Bi.P.C. group are not available, candidates with Intermediate
of MPC Group and thereafter other groups may be given preference in that order.
7. The Government have carefully examined the circumstances reported by the
Secretary, A.P. Para Medical Board in the context of increasing complexity of medical
technology and the critical role of para-medical technicians in providing quality
medical care. The Government has also considered the national and international
best practices in this regard in the best interests of patient care. The Group
of Ministers (GOM) on Scholarships has also considered the
prevailing quality of para-medical education in the State and ordered that
all para-medical courses shall be the Diploma study for two year and the
minimum education qualification for admission to para-medical courses shall be
pass in Intermediate (10+2) course with Science Group.
8. Accordingly, the Government hereby order that the educational
qualification for admission to all para-medical courses in the State with
effect from 2013-2014 Academic Year shall be a pass in
Intermediate 10+2 with Biology, Physics and Chemistry (Bi.P.C). If adequate
students of Bi.PC are not available, students with Intermediate with Maths,
Physics and Chemistry (MPC) will be considered and if adequate students with
MPC are also not available, students with Intermediate with other subjects can
be considered.
9. The Secretary, A.P. Paramedical Board and the Commissioner of Health and
Family Welfare shall take necessary action in the matter.
10. Accordingly, the following notification will be published in an
extraordinary issue of the Andhra Pradesh Gazettee, dated 15-05-2013.
NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 99 of the Andhra Pradesh Education
Act, 1982 (Act 1 of 1982), the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby makes the
following amendment to Andhra Pradesh Para Medical Training Institutions (Grant
of Permission and regulation of admissions into private Institutions) Rules,
1997, issued in G.O.Ms.No.304, HM&FW (K2) Department dated 7.8.1997, and as
amended from time to time.
AMENDMENT
In the said rules for sub-rule (2) of rule-6 the following shall be
substituted, namely:-
“ For all diploma courses for minimum age is 16 years and minimum
educational qualification is Intermediate with Science Group (Bi.P.C) as entry
qualification for admission to all paramedical courses or the paramedical
courses as may be notified by the Government from time to time. If adequate
students of Bi.PC are not available, students with Intermediate with Maths,
Physics and Chemistry (MPC) will be considered and if adequate students with M.PC
are also not available, students with Intermediate with other subjects can be
considered.”
