Part II Schemes 2014-2015 – Additional financial assistance to the eco-clubs both State Government and Government of India funded eco-clubs through Director of Environment – a cost of Rs.100 lakhs – sanctioned – orders –issued.

The Director of Environment has stated that Tamil Nadu is the forerunner for forming eco-clubs in the State. He has further stated that there are 8269 eco clubs functioning in the State with the State fund and 8000 eco-clubs in the State under National Green Corps (NGC) functioning with the
Government of India fund.


2. The Director of Environment has also stated that in order to make the children understand environment and environmental issues and to provide environmental educational opportunities, financial assistance of Rs.100 lakhs may be given to 500 best performing eco-clubs at the rate of Rs.20,000 per eco-club consisting of both NGC eco-clubs funded by Government of India as well as eco-clubs funded by the State Government during the year 2014-2015
to carryout various awareness activities. He has also requested that this activity may also be continued as a regular activity of the Department of Environment.


3. The Government after careful examination accept the proposal of the Director of Environment and accord sanction for an additional financial assistance of Rs.100 lakh (Rupees one hundred lakh only) for best performing 500 eco-clubs at the rate of Rs.20,000 per eco-club consisting of both NGC
eco-clubs funded by the Government of India as well as eco-clubs funded by the State Government during the year 2014-2015.


4. The expenditure sanctioned in para-2 above shall be debited to the following head of account:- 3435-Ecology and Environment – 03 – Environment Research and Ecological Regeneration 001- Direction and Administration I – Non Plan – AA Environment Department – 09 – Grants in Aid – 09 –others (D.P.Code 3435 – 03-001-AA-0997)
 

5. The Director of Environment is authorized to draw the amount sanctioned in para-3 above.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its
U.O.No.47598/Fin(AHD&F) 2014, dated 08.09.2014.
