Super- Speciality Course for Doctors

Super- Speciality Course for Doctors

Building of capacities at various levels is an ongoing activity of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, including the North Eastern Council. Given the high incidence of cancer in some States in the North East, a meeting of State Health Secretaries/Commissioners with other stakeholders was recently held wherein it was inter alia agreed to sponsor doctors/para-medicals for specialized long and short term courses/training to equip them to address this challenge suitably.

In addition, the Ministry runs other programmes under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources Scheme, North Eastern Council, Capacity Building & Technical Assistance, North Eastern State Roads Investment Programme and North East Rural Livelihoods Project etc. for development of North Eastern States.

This was stated by Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Dr. Jitendra Singh in Lok Sabha today in a written reply to a question by Dr. Sunil Baliram Gaikwad, Shri Gajanan Kirtikar, Shri Naranbhai Kachhadiya, Shri Sudheer Gupta and Kunwar Haribansh Singh.

Act East Policy

The objective of "Act East Policy" is to promote economic cooperation, cultural ties and develop strategic relationship with countries in the Asia-Pacific region through continuous engagement at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels thereby ending the economic isolation of the States of North Eastern Region including Arunachal Pradesh.

Establishing connectivity with the neighbouring countries and within NER, and development of other infrastructure are integral part of Act East Policy. Until the connectivity with the neighbouring countries and infrastructure within NER (road, rail, inland water transport, telecom, airports, power, etc.) are fully established the micro and macro benefit of the policy cannot be assessed.

This was stated by Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Dr. Jitendra Singh in Lok Sabha today in a written reply to a question by Shri Ajay Misra Teni and Shri Ninong Ering.
