Government of Telangana is keen to modernize the Police Department with an object to bring the services of Police to the door steps of common people. Warangal Town is the biggest town in Telangana State   with the population of Metropolitan area as 13,09,848 (as per Census 2011) and the  annual crime rate is 8,768. It is the hub of academic institutions and with intense political activity. To cater to the specific needs of the town, an Urban Police District was formed in the year 2010. However, in view of the rapid growth of population and issues relating to law & order, it is felt necessary to set up a Warangal Police Commissionerate for efficient policing and effective control of police to serve the citizens in a better way.

2.       In view of the above, the Director General of Police, Telangana has requested the Government to form Warangal Police Commissionerate by converting the existing Warangal Urban District.

3.       Government have examined the matter carefully and hereby accept the proposal in principle for formation of Warangal Police Commissionerate by converting the existing Warangal Urban District into a Police Commissionerate.

4.       The Warangal Police Commissionerate would be functioning from the date of  completion of all legal modalities required in this  regard.

(BY ORDER AND IN THE NAME OF THE GOVERNOR OF TELANGANA)
