Kiren Rijiju flags-off the SSB Trishul Mountaineering Team 

The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju flagged-off here today a-fifteen-members Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Mountaineering Team to scale 23,360 feet high Trishul Peak in Uttrakhand Shri Rijiju said that Mountaineering is a enterprising compassion and it gave inspiration to maintain patience and hope in any hard situation. It communicates enterprising skill in force personnel and, therefore, such types of compassion should be organized continuously in a force to motivate its personnel, he added. 


The Director General, SSB, Shri Bansi Dhar Sharma said that SSB had a long experience and expertise to organize and conduct such campaign. SSB personnel have conquered many peaks such as Mount Everest, Noon, Nada Devi, Nanda Khat, Tharkot, Santopansh, Kedardom, Hanuman Tibba, Jogin two and Jogin three, Bhagirathi two, Baljari, Bandor poonch, Black peak and some other peaks conquered by SSB personnels. He further expressed his confidence that Mountaineering team of SSB will conquer Trishul and make all SSB personnel and Nation proud. 

Starting from New Delhi, the expedition team will reach Gwaldam and establish its base camp at Hemkund Phase-wise it will establish camp one, camp two and camp three to scale Trishul. After scaling the peak, team will return back in the last week of this month.

NDRF to host Advance Coordination Conference ahead of the South Asian Annual Disaster Management Exercise, SAADMEx-2015 

The Advance Coordination Conference ahead of the South Asian Annual Disaster Management Exercise (SAADMEx-2015), organised by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), will begin here tomorrow. The Head of Disaster Response from the SAARC member countries besides representatives from National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), NDRF and Senior Officers from the nodal Ministries will be attending the two-day Conference where modalities and requirements for the main exercise to be conducted at the NDRF Base, Ghaziabad, during November 23-26, 2015 will be discussed. 

On the first day, Director, NIDM will make a Presentation on “Vulnerability Profile of South Asia” which will be followed by Country Presentations on “Disaster Response Mechanism and Capability in Response and Relief” by delegations from each of the eight SAARC nations, -Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. 

Government of India is organising the SAADMEx-2015 to provide a platform for sharing of best practices on all aspects of disaster risk reduction, strengthening regional response and coordination for disaster management among the SAARC nations.

Indo-Australian Bilateral Co-operation in the field of security 

A bilateral meeting between India and Australia was held here today to discuss the bilateral co-operation between the two countries. The visiting Australian Minister of Defence, Mr. Kevin Andrews and the Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju discussed intelligence sharing, combating international terrorism, cyber security and better working relations for border and maritime security. They also touched upon the issues of stability of Asia Pacific region, security of sea lanes of communication. 

The two leaders underscored the growing depth of the Australia-India strategic partnership and building on converging interests, shared values and common democratic institutions in today’s meeting. They also discussed bilateral collaboration across the security spectrum, including in counter terrorism, cyber policy and maritime security. 

The two leaders also discussed the follow-up of the financial action task force in Brisbane, Australia in June 2015 and addressed deficiencies in implementation of the recommendations with regard to terror financing. Shri Rijiju also raised the issue of sponsored terrorism by some neighboring countries and global efforts to curtail terror funding. The visiting Defence Minister also discussed the situation in the middle-east and in Afghanistan and expressed his concern. They also agreed for enhanced co-operation in the areas of mutual interest of both the countries. 

The visiting Australian Defence Minister is attending the Second Australia-India Defence Minister’s dialogue. The Australian delegation included the High Commissioner and Defence Attaches of Australia in India. Both the countries agreed to further enhance bilateral assistance in the areas of mutual co-operation and extend the co-operation to newer areas.

Developmental Projects in five LWE affected States reviewed 

A meeting was held today in the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Chairmanship of Shri Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, Minister of State for Home Affairs to review Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar. 

During the meeting, apart from operational issues certain developmental issues such as roads, mobile towers and infrastructure in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) centres were reviewed. 

Shri Chaudhary asked the Directors General of CAPFs to adhere to the time-lines for appropriate utilization of budget available with them. The issues of coordination between the State Police and CAPFs were also discussed and better and enhanced cooperation on the ground was emphasized. 

The meeting was attended by Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, Union Home Secretary, DGs of CAPFs, DGs of State Police and Principal Secretaries (Home) from the concerned States and Senior Officers of the MHA.
