Anant Geete to Inaugurate test Facilities of “International Centre for Automotive Technology (Icat)”, Manesar Under National Automotive testing and R&D Infrastructure Project Tomorrow
International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar in Gurgaon district of Haryana will be hosting the inauguration of new state of the art and modern test facilities installed as a part of the National Automotive Ttesting and R & D infrastructure project (NATRiP) tomorrow i.e. 23rd February 2016. 


Union Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises (MoHI & PE), Shri Anant G Geete will inaugurate the facilities in presence of Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of state SPIPD; Shri G.M. Siddheshwara, Minister of State, MoHI& PE; Shri Rajan Katoch, Secretary, DHI; Shri S K Bahri, AS & FA, DIPP; Shri Sanjay Bandhopadhyaya, CEO & Project Director, National Automotive Testing and R & D Infrastructure Project(NATRiP), Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry. 

National automotive testing and R & D infrastructure project (Natrip) project was approved by cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) in July 2005. The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) was set up in 2006 and is the first of the new world class centres established under the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP). The Government of India has recognised ICAT as one of the accredited 'Type Approval and Homologation' agencies in India under Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) 126 and has also been recognized as Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) from Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), since Feb 2010, by BIS for Tyre Testing, Safety Glasses and by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for Emission and Noise testing of Generator Sets.

With the capital investment of over INR 930 crore and the facilities spread over 8 acres (32,376 sq.m) of land at ICAT Site-I and 46.29 acres(1,87,335 sq.m) at ICAT Site-II, which is located 7 kms away from Site-I. The centre is rendering valuable services to the automotive industry in the country in a big way.

ICAT is emerging as a comprehensive technical partner of the automotive industry and currently undertakes the following activities:

1. Homologation and Certification as per Indian regulations. Testing as per various Indian and global regulations for all class of vehicles

2. Developmental Projects

3. Automotive R&D Projects
