Prime Minister of Nepal Calls on President 

Rt. Honourable Mr. Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, the Prime Minister of Nepal called on President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday (February 20, 2016). 


Welcoming Mr. Oli on his first visit to India as Prime Minister of Nepal, the President appreciated the Nepalese Prime Minister for selecting India for his first visit abroad as Prime Minister of Nepal. He said that he was honoured that Mr. Oli is staying at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

The President said India’s only interest is long-term peace and stability of a strong and united Nepal. The open border between India and Nepal is a unique aspect of relationship. India is committed to further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation. He expressed confidence that the Nepal Prime Minister's interaction with the Indian leadership would further strengthen the friendship between the two countries. 

The Nepalese Prime Minister reciprocated the President’s sentiments and said the two countries had a great deal in common and belonged to one culture and one civilization. He expressed gratitude for India's immediate assistance following the earthquake and for the support announced during the Donors Conference.

President’s Greetings on the eve of Birthday of Guru Ravidasji 

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has greeted fellow-citizens on the eve of birthday of Guru Ravidasji. 

In a message, the President has said, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidasji, I convey greetings and good wishes to all my fellow countrymen. 

Guru Ravidasji was an embodiment of spiritual wisdom. He led a life of faith and devotion and dedicated himself to the service of humanity. May the teachings of Guru Ravidasji inspire us all to strive to remove social inequalities and work towards the progress of our nation and its people. Let us recall Guru Ravidasji’s ceaseless struggle for the establishment of a casteless society and derive inspiration from his life and teachings.”

President of India’s Message on the eve of Independence Day of St. Lucia 

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of St. Lucia on the eve of their Independence Day (February 22, 2016). 

In a message to Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, the Governor General of St. Lucia, the President has said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to extend warm greetings and felicitations to you and to the people of St. Lucia on the occasion of your Independence Day. 

Ties between our two countries have been traditionally warm and friendly. The meeting of the Prime Ministers of India and St. Lucia on the sidelines of the UNGA in New York in September 2015 has been useful in enhancing our friendship and mutual understanding. I am confident that our friendly ties will be further strengthened in the years to come. 

I avail this opportunity to convey, to Your Excellency, my best wishes for your good health and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of St. Lucia”.
