Technology Centre at Baddi a step towards realising PM’s vision of Skill India: Shri J P Nadda 

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Sh. J P Nadda today congratulated the people of Himachal Pradesh for getting a technology Centre at Baddi in Solan district. 


Sh. Nadda said, “This is an important milestone for the people of Himachal Pradesh and a significant step towards realising Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of “Skill India” . He thanked Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Sh. Kalraj Mishra for sanctioning this Technology Centre under the Technology Centre Systems Programme. 

The Health Minister said that the proposed Technology Centre at Baddi will provide professional training in various courses with focus on tool and die making automation. It will also help in creating jobs as this Centre will contribute towards skilling youth. In the next five years around 18000 trainees would become employable in the industry through this Centre, said Sh. Nadda. 

Major specialisations at the proposed Technology Centre would include: Process Automation in FMCG and pharmaceuticals, Tool Making and metal cutting, Maintenance, CNC Manufacturing, CAD/CAM, Advance Welding, Information Technology, Industrial Automation etc.

Shri J P Nadda lays foundation stone for new Super Specialty Block at Alappuzha Medical College 

Government committed to strengthening medical infrastructure in the country: J P Nadda 

The Government is committed to strengthening medical infrastructure in the country and its efforts are directed towards regional development of hospitals and medical colleges equipped with the best facilities. This was stated by Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare on the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Super Specialty Block at the Tirumala Devaswom Medical College at Alappuzha in Kerala, today. Shri V S Sivakumar, Health Minister, Keraka; Shri AK Antony, MP (RS); Shri Vayalar Ravi, MP (RS); and Shri K C Venugopal, MP (LS) were also present at the function. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Union health Minister stated that the Government has embarked on an ambitious plan to expand tertiary care in a big way in the country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. The upgradation project of T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha is another step in that direction, as part of the scheme to upgrade Medical Colleges the under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). With the upgradation, Super Specialty Department of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Nephrology, Urology, Medical Gastroenterology, Plastic surgery and Endocrinology will get created in the existing medical college at an approved cost of ₹ 150 crores. This will add 200 beds, 50 ICU beds, 8 OTs to the Institute, Shri Nadda stated. He added that a similar project has also been approved for Kozhikode Medical College, work on which will start soon. Tertiary care facilities will thus get a boost with all these projects coming up. 

Shri Nadda further added that under Phase-I of PMSSY, the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College has been upgraded at an approved outlay of ₹120 crore (Central contribution-Rs.100 crore and State share-₹ 20 crore). 

Noting that the State of Kerala has shown the progress at all fronts, the Health Minister stated that ₹ 521.99 crore during F.Y. 2014-15 and ₹ 270.42 crore during F.Y. 2015-16 (so far) have been released to Kerala state for implementation of programmes approved under National Health Mission (NHM). He expressed the belief that these new initiatives shall improve the healthcare facilities in the State.

‘Women to play a big role in social transformation through digital revolution: Ravi Shankar Prasad’ 

National Conference of Common Service Centers Women Village Level Entrepreneurs held 

Over 2000 women from across the country gathered in the national capital today to celebrate the struggle and success of harnessing the Common Service Centers to create digital literacy and offer e-services. 

Hon’ Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was chief guest at the event, stressed on the grassroots information technology access that CSCs are creating, apart from acting as instruments of engendering social change.The Minister added that the services offered by CSCs are allowing digital access to services for the poorest and hence reducing corruption and malpractices. 

Recalling the big role played by women in the white revolution, referring to the dairy revolution in India, Hon’ble Minister expressed the hope that women will also play a fundamental role in information technology revolution for creating social change. 

He also launched a coffee table book showcasing 100 stories of the women VLEs from across the country. Several women were felicitated through awards given by the Hon’ble Minister for their outstanding contributions through their CSCs. 

In his welcome address, Chief Executive Officer, CSC SPV, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi explained the purpose of the conference by stressing that the struggles and successes of the women VLEs were similar and which need to be shared, including the innovations and solutions that many of them have come up with during the course of their work. 

Also present at the conference were senior officials, including Dr Ajay Kumar, Additional Secretary DEITY, Shri Sanjiv Mittal, Joint Secretary DEITY. 

The women shared their experiences through panel discussions and questions from the audience at the Siri Fort Auditorium.
