ORDER:

GoAP recognized that VSAT technologies can be effectively used to meet the following requirements:

a. Providing upto 2 Mbps connectivity to remote villages which cannot be connected through fiber in the near future, due to terrain constraints. These may constitute about 15 % of the Revenue villages in AP.

b. Creating Satellite Infrastructure for distance education in the new State.

c. Creating Satellite – based Communication systems for Disaster Management, where the terrestrial communication links breakdown.

2. In view of the above, the Government after careful consideration and examine hereby constitutes a Joint Working Group with the following composition:

i  Advisor to GoAP (e-Governance, Electronics & IT) - Chairman
ii  Special Chief Secretary, Planning  -  Member
iii  Secretary, Tribal Welfare -  Member
iv  Representative of ISRO / NRSC -  Member
v  Representative of Intelsat -  Member
vi  Representative of Gilat Satellite Networks -  Member
vii  Representative of Hughes Communications India Ltd -  Member
viii  Representative of Airtel -  Member
ix  Secretary ITE&C -  Member
x  Director (Communications), ITE&C -  Member-Convenor

3. The Committee shall examine the above areas and make specific recommendations and to prepare a roadmap within 4 weeks.

4. The Committee shall meet as and when required.
